Atlantic WBP CG1

You all are a bunch of addicts and I
am all in with ya!

Late last week I picked up my latest AK.
This is my second Atlantic WBP and it is
very well put together.
The CG1 is a WBP parts kit built on a
Childers Polish marked receiver, and includes a
Polish laminated stock kit as well as a CHF
chrome lined barrel from the FB Radom
Factory in ... you guessed it. Poland.

Atlantics awesome professional assembly an
fantastic finish completes the build into one of the
finest AKM available in the market today.
And I am pleased to have one ...much less two!
This is my second Atlantic WBP as my first was the WBP Classic,
which was Atlantics first offering with a forged trunnion and sports a Morrisey receiver and a Bakelite HG.

A shout out to Atlantic as this is my eighth purchase from in the past year
and they have been a great company to deal with.

I put a mag through their earlier Polish build and it was a smooth operator. Hope this one is a good one for you as well!

skillet24 11-12-2017 09:59 PM

I'm sold. Gonna pick one up in a few months. Damn it AKs are making me broke.

Pow-ding 11-12-2017 10:15 PM

Dwe,

And I thought I was addicted!

CG1's are totally awesome, and congrats on obtaining one. I really like the Polish markings. The WBP Atlantic builds are IMHO one of the best buys on the market today.

If you get a chance a range report sometime in the future would be super.

These are his first shots the 2 in the X were his first, he doubled those not being used to the trigger, I made him stop so I could take a pic, low one was his 3 rd all @25 yrds.

Haven't shot the CG1 yet but no reason it'll not shoot just as good. I love these WBP's needless to say, Atlantic did a super job on these like I've said before best bang for the buck out there at present.

Killface45 11-13-2017 01:58 AM

Is the Childers receiver better then the Morrissey receivers? Why the $100 difference?

Sarge is the real deal 32 years and retired. Very good trusted friend and a stand up guy. 15 yrs as a tank gunner, took Top Gun in Wisconsin, then 17 yrs training troops for deployment. He can shoot the ankles off a fly at 1000 yrds with a 300 WinMag. When we go to the range he does a lot of talking (natural teacher) and I do a lot of listening and learning. He's had a lot of fun with my AK's and is starting to warm up to them. We're both 1911 nuts which adds to the fun.

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
From what I understand the Childers receiver used in the GC1 build comes from Poland as a bent shell, then Childers drills it, heat treats it and places the Polish markings on it.
So with the parts kit, barrel, stock and receiver all being Polish, the end result is a rifle that is as Polish as can be and still be 922R compliant.
This may not be important to some, however it was to me.

Is there a difference functionally???
Maybe, however I doubt it.
But for the purest... its definitely worth it.

Cowboys1 11-13-2017 09:47 PM

I was planning on getting a 74 variant but can't find one I want. If I don't find one soon I'm buying the cg1. Absolutely beautiful rifle.

Just a Citizen 11-13-2017 10:20 PM

Atlantic definitely has a winner with these, they look stunning.

Worm 11-13-2017 10:26 PM

Beautiful! Just ordered a Polish stock set from Atlantic for my bulgy today.

Hogg 11-14-2017 07:47 PM

I'm waiting for the next round of stock to be posted on their website. Definitely gonna get one.

And I was suppose to be done buying. This makes it even more tempting.

stop making me jealous. This is one of THE ak variants I must own soon, but sadly $1500 in car repairs and my TV dying means I'll have to wait till the new year to grab one :(.... every post i see they just look stunning, and the build quality looks amazing

Flankenstein 11-14-2017 11:56 PM

Polish kits and shells have been around for sometime now. Don't understand all the hoopla.

I think it`s having the ability to complain to customer service instead of sitting and fuming over your own fuckups. :laugh_sma

It's because of the files.
We are the source of our own hype, and every once in a while you can watch it seep out into the world and infect others.

Admittedly, I never cared one way or another about Polish built anything until the files.
But now I want a CG1 something bad. I've been restraining myself because I'm saving for an AR-10. One big ticket at a time.

HK-91 11-15-2017 12:57 PM

You can buy AR-10's all day at Walgreens even any flavor, but CG1's are a limited production....just sayin...:wink_smal

You're saying nothing. What do AR anythings have to do with this? Actually, never mind...

I do not think this is hoopla as much as just a number of very happy Atlantic WBP buyers expressing their opinions of satisfaction with the WBP builds they have purchased, and wanted to share. Also some posts by people who are looking to buy one of the Atlantic WBP's in the future.

For me, my choices of excellent quality AK's has been declining over the years from import bans, and lack of quality AK inventory available to meet current demand. The WBP's and WASR's seem to be popular, and are often discussed.:)

Flankenstein 11-15-2017 02:13 PM

Fair nough.

It's a lot more addicting once you start building your own AK!

I would agree.

If not for my somewhat advanced age, I would buy the equipment and start learning how to build AK's. Wish I could go back in time about 15-years!

Guess I will have to be satisfied with buying the best AK's I can occasionally afford.

tower06 11-15-2017 03:58 PM

Are these built with the forged WBP trunnions?

It's never too late to start building...I know guys who are in their 50's just started building as a hobby. I'm 47 :small_gri

Cravin01 11-16-2017 11:28 AM

I love my WBP Classic, I'd love to have the CG1 also. It has everything I want in an AKM and the fit, finish and materials used are above par. It is by far my favorite gun. I now spend less money on 9mm,5.56,7.62x54R,380,7mm and even .22. The lion share goes to 7.62x39 and my SKS gets a few crumbs.

WVNed 11-16-2017 12:44 PM

Could someone explain the differences between the Classic, the CG1 and the WPB Red at Atlantic Firearms for a newb beyond the furniture?

The Classic is built on a Morrissey receiver, the CG1 is built on a Childers receiver, the Red should be a Morrissey receiver and red Boyds furniture made for Atlantic. Just saw the Red and it's a nice touch. I bought a DAKM from Atlantic with the red Boyds and it' just gorgeous wood. Tempted to buy the red one even though I don't need it...damn you Atlantic.....:small_gri

Go for it....
I also thought about the Red WBP, but I will pass on that one.
I'm still hoping for a WBP UF. So I will continue to enjoy my CG1 and the Classic for the time being.

FalseFlagOps 11-16-2017 09:54 PM

Just saw those new WBP builds, look very nice. I had asked them (Atlantic) if they were considering some WBP builds with the Boyd's Russian red or sunburst orange laminate stock sets and funny thing happened! I know the purists like the Polish laminate, as do I (I have the CG1 version.....so far). These are very nice stock sets, I have them on a few Veprs and Saiga from Atlantic and quite nice (run about $150-$200 for that stock set upgrade). As far as the new version with Russian red stock set now available, I recently asked what receiver this is built on, but am guessing Morrissey. Will update when they get back to me on that one. Might have to wait a bit though, just nabbed a LWRC DI on GB to go with my DDM4s, couldn't pass up the price, thanks Donald for the stock rally, but most has gone right into Atlantic's pocket. Damn them and their beautiful rifles.
