Default Is this Maadi a Preban

So I messaged this seller and told him "Hey ..I'd do $700 your rifles NOT a preban and its missing the bayonet lug non threaded muzzle and that thumbhole stocks came out in 1994 etc". I asked him how he knew it was made in 1987. He tells me he Bought it new in 1987, and has pics of his wife shooting it (with the thumbhole stock) in 87. Also tells me California had thumbhole stocks in 1986. After all that he tells me its sold.

For Sale: Egyptian AKM AK47 AKS 7.62 x 39 Pre 1989 Soviet type Kalashnikov
Maadi made in Egypt, all original perfect bore., 1987 manifacture, never to be imported again. Soviet pattern laminated wood.
$975.

The only pre ban maadis were imported by Steyr, Secaucus NJ. By the muzzle that looks like a PARS Intl import. PARS imported them 1993-1995 I believe.

California enacted their AWB first in 1989. So 87 is crock of shit. As is his whole deal. Pre-ban Steyrs go for 2,500$ and up typically

Yep like swolff said, not a pre-ban maadi and looks like a PARS import.

Yep, sounds like a load to me too. Literally nothing in his story checks out. I could be wrong of course, but really don't think so.

Thumbhole stocks are a result of the 1989 non-sporting arms import ban.
Nov. 1990 is an important date.
Closely related to 922(r).

Ok I didnt think that they imported the thumbhole Maadis until 1993/4.. But I was confused on the 1989 law as to if they were bring brought in by then or even right after.

Yea the seller is either a liar or a complete retard. Thing doesn't even have muzzle threads or a slant break.

If he doesn't accept your more than reasonable offer then move on.

Idiots like that seller piss me off to no end!! Dunning-Kruger Effect writ large with this dumbass.

Steyr imported a batch of 2,000-2,500 (sources say slightly different numbers) back in 1982-1983.
They didn't sell well, so they never bothered with a second batch.

1989 happened, and as a result rifles could no longer be imported with a pistol grip, bayo lug, exposed muzzle threads/removable muzzle device, flash hider, or folding/collapseable buttstock.

In 1993, Intrac and later PARS started importing a ban compliant version of the Maadi ARM.
Thumbhole stock, bayo lug shaved off, and either a muzzle nut tack welded over the muzzle threads or just the threads completely machined off (thus a smaller diameter barrel).
These seemed to stop around 1995, and then around 1997 Century picked up Maadi imports.

They began with the MISR, which was identical to the PARS without muzzle threads.
Then 1998 happened, and the ATF with support from the White House added the ability to feed from 'high cap' magazines to the list of evil banned features.

This resulted in Century's MISR-10, which used single stack magazines.
Finally, they released the MISR-SA, which was like the Romanian SAR-1. It was sold with a pistol grip, military stock, and could feed from standard mags again; this all at the cost of having 5 USA made parts for 922(r).

It seems like Maadi imports stopped coming in around 2000-2001. This is just a guess though. Does anyone have a firm date for the last ones?
I know you could still see them NIB in stores back then and into 2002 maybe, but by the time the SAR-1 switched into the WASR-10 in 2003, seems like most all of the MISRs were gone from the new primary market.

Oh and not even going to mention that thing....the MISR-90....well shit, I just did, shit shit shit lol.
