Yea, that "tool" is a belt sander trying to blend out the vise grip or pipe wrench tooth marks from screwing that "us" piston in it, likely damaged or dirty threads caused it thread tight and willing bet piston is just torques down.

I have 2 small children so it never leads back to me ! I’ll do a range report. I think the sights are canted as the previous owner had pushed the front site all the way to one side .

I had one with that twisted look to the gas piston before. Never had any issues with it

If you like that plum tint buy a yugo, a bunch of them have occasional parts of that color that turned out that way even as they were blued on the assembled rifle

I want to do a whole rifle that color, but doing it on purpose sounds tricky.

Looks like file work to me, not a sander or Dremel. It's a WASR, so Century already welded the piston into the BC; they didn't need to "vise-grip" it in.

Had to thread it in before welding

And unless there's a weld through other side rivet hole, there's nothing in his pics that shows welded

That is how Century does it ( welds only one hole )

Can't have the minimum-wage-monkeys making an extra penny welding both sides, right?

Yep only one hole is welded . I’m a wasr fan now for sure though. For what you get for the $500 I can’t see the $600-700 more for the Aresenals . I own two and maybe I can see $250-$300 difference in overall quality.

mine has a gnarly shank on the piston too. Welded and ground hastily... yours looks like a michealangelo.
