Default Romanian type 3 AK rifles ~ any information?

How do you do, fellow Filers

From what I know, the Romanians used Russian-produced type 3 AK rifles, never producing any of their own.

Did they produce any small parts? Furniture? Or did they source all parts and accessories from Russia?

Does anybody have any Russian type 3 guns with Romanian markings? Perhaps PLO kits?
I would like to know more about the history behind Romanian type 3 guns, but any information on them is extremely hard to find. (I tried searching here and on other forums)...

If anyone could provide any info, I'd greatly appreciate it
Thanks!! - Ray

From what I understand, the Romanians were given early Soviet stock (as most all Comm Bloc nations were) as well as the technical specs for the AK series weapons.

Soviet and Romanian relations soured after Romania refused to participate in the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. After that was when they began their own production if the md pu 63 series.

As Romanian variants are some of the most exported AKM variety, it stands to reason that they would have sold their milled units off. But nothing would have differentiated them from the other soviet milled guns from Ukrainian armories' stock, say.

All I can really add is 'goodluck.' I've tried getting good info for a long time and came up with very little. I think they 'might' have made some furniture, especially as replacement bits for damaged originals. Also might have made magazines and slings. This is all speculation and guess work based on looking at very early PM-63 parts. I'd really enjoy having a Romie AK T3 kit myself. Their rifles do kind of speak to me. Interesting nation during the Warsaw Pact era, with a very...errr yeah, leader lol.

Thank you Craigan and Mishaco,

I really appreciate your responses. I agree, Romanian AK history (and Romanian history in general) is fascinating to say the least.
It would be really cool to find a Romanian T3 parts kit. I wonder if there were any Romanian markings?
I hope some info comes up.
Thank you everybody, God bless you all....

My guess is the very few out there might be Romanian overstamps on Russian receivers. I have never seen a milled Romanian at all. Definitely a unicorn

Unicorn is right.
Never seen one...doesn't mean much, maybe they exist but I think the AKM was ready to go before Romania played the game.

To be honest it's the first time I've ever seen anybody mention a Romanian milled AK. It seems (from a short web search in language I don't understand - thanks Google Translate!) that not even Romanians are aware of such beast.
