Default WASR Wood Question

I never had a wasr so I don't know much about them. But is the wood 922r compliant USA made wood. I am thinking about buying this stock set pictured but want to make sure it is 922r compliant.

I can almost guarantee you that if you buy that stock set, or any for that matter, that no one will ever question you as to if your WASR is 922r compliant.

Just sayin.

I'd ask about the AK rug also!

That looks like a modern run stock set off of a WASR, and I too doubt the 922r police will come asking questions.

Supposedly the stock, hand guard, and pistol grip are all made in the US

The handguard's are beech wood. And the stock is maple. The handguard should be Romanian while the stock should be US.

What is the wood on a WASR worth? I recently bought one and I'm replacing the hand guard and stock with Magpul stuff.

Yes it is 922r, no it is not worth the 100, no wait 75 or even close to that price. They sell for 35-40 regularly.

This past February, my local NRA shooting range's 922R Officer informed me that the end plate on my WASR was a Romanian-made part, as well as the gas tube cover, and therefore each one carried a criminal penalty of two years in federal penitentiary - those numbers are multiplied, not added, for a maximum possible 4 years term, if convicted. He cut me a break, though. I was able to avoid the class D misdemeanor charge for the gas tube cover and class G felony charge for the end plate, and he just let me off with a $100 citation because I surrendered those parts to him on the spot. He was kind enough to sell me a properly compliant gas TAPCO gas tube cover for $43.99, and a US made no-brand end plate for only $9.99, so I could finish up my range session. Surprisingly, my groups tightened up with the fully compliant parts and I was shooting better than ever. Not a bad day, thanks to the NRA!

You can track down your local 922R Officer in your jurisdiction and ask him to look over your rifle for you, although I would recommend bringing it to him all broken down into pieces so he doesn't think you would ever assemble or possess a non-compliant gun.

Guy_Fawkes, do you really think anyone is gonna inspect it?
They'd rather you never even have the rifle.

If it really bothers you...thrown in some other US made parts to make it compliant.

Tell him to prove it in a court of law.

Dude don't waste your money on crappy wood. If that's a WASR take off as it appears to be, then it's really low quality wood. No cop is going to be testing the wood fibers on your gun to determine its origin. Have a beer, relax, and get yourself some decent wood.

That's a good 922r compliant stock set. Shipping is included in the sellers asking price... not unreasonable.

Seriously, don't buy it. My WASR stock had a crack after 60 rounds.
