Default How to prevent after filing mag well

My new WASR had a rough mag well opening and mag catch that were chewing up a variety of magazines so I filed it a little to smooth it out. It works a lot better now although it still doesn't like the Magpuls with the steel lugs so I got rid of them.

Anyways I'm wondering if there is anything I should apply to the spots I filed to prevent rust?

Just looked up that blue pen, had no idea that even existed. Perfect, thanks!

Gunna say the more expensive route with some Oxpho blue but the blue pens work good as wormrapper said.

Edit: If you use a cold blue, heat up the steel with a hair dryer or something similar before applying. Seems to help the cold blue adhere better and also get a darker finish on the steel from my experience.

The perma blue paste works pretty well. Q-tip or rag. It will actually get darker each application but needs to cure.
The pen sounds like it's quick and easy as well.
LOL about the Sharpie. I've done that before myself for small things but to prevent rust I don't know.
