Market is getting close to a medium term top.

Maybe....

Be cautious here, guys.

Yesterday, I added to all these positions:

AMAT
WDC
MU
SWKS
ONCE

I must be nuts. lol

Based solely on their charts/technicals though I already hold all those positions.

I sold off most of my PHM and some of my BAC. Also based on their charts.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda put it all into Bublcoin.

Just in fun, guys.
Play with the house's money.

A "bitcoin mining rig" these days means buying an asic. And once you get one, you're in competition with all the huge chinese mining operations. It'll take a while to recoup your initial investment. Hobby miners will do better with ethereum, monero, zcash, or something that doesn't require an asic. If you shop smart, you can buy off the shelf parts to build something that'll pay off in ~4 months (faster if you know somewhere to get free electricity).

If I were a Bitcoin speculator I believe I'd be selling into this "rampage" & not getting too greedy.

This is not a sustainable situation.

Once again the giantpune strategy paid off. Buy at an all time high of $14k. Go to bed. Wake up and have earned 13%.

@drjarhead I'm gonna have to make you a wallet and put $20 in it so you can cheer it on with the rest of us.

Pyramid schemes always seem like easy money until the whole thing collapses.

Yeah, tell me how this time it's different.....

Heard it before.

Just be cautious and play with only the house's money at the earliest opportunity.

Just an alternative currency ... has come in handy for those in distressed economies ...

http://eastwest.eu/en/opinioni/open-...rn-to-bitcoins

Lot of demand in countries where geopolitical events are unstable or next to unstable regimes (i.e. South Korea). Huge demand out of Japan,China and India. Euroland is getting frothy as well. This could go on for quite a while yet.

$40,000 bitcoin by middle next year?

None of those ways. Already looked into some of them.

I'll wait for the ETF, I guess.
We'll see if the ponzicoin holds up that long.

Sold some this evening. Looks to be rolling over some. Ready for another run but since it's "house's money" it's all pure profit now. Been a good run. Maybe the Asian and Euro boys will step up to the plate tonight. Anyway, took profits and still have a little in the game.

yeah watch out for the futures

if you have seen the movie the big short, remember how their contracts against the housing market didn't actually go up once the housing market started to collapse?

these bitcoin futures could do the same thing. you can't actually exercise the futures and trade them for bitcoin, so there's really no way to ensure the price of the futures will react according to the price changes in bitcoin. it's just an insurance contract and you're hoping that it gets priced correctly

Thanks. I've seen that with other short etfs though not generally.

The info is appreciated though.

I sure won't be putting a lot of money into it either way. Just enough to have a play in shorting it. Timing is everything, as always.

Litecoin is up 36% since yesterday. These little guys aren't doing so bad this year, either. +3509.49% this year.

ETA-
Make that +65% for the day, +4269.84% for the year.

...

+70%. Climb, you magnificent little bastard!

...

+102% . The little engine that could doubled in a day.

BTC is starting to tank. Probably a good chance to buy now. A lot of people get their paychecks in 5 days so it should surge up again. Dump them in a week and make a quick buck.

I buy my crypto money from coinbase. What you,re asking about in your second question is a 'paper wallet'. A crypto money wallet is generally made up of a string of letters and numbers known as the private address and another string which is the public address. Anybody can send money to the public address and only somebody with the private address can spend that money. For Bitcoin, the private address is 64 characters long. You can generate a *random* private key and derive the public key all offline. You can then buy coins from coinbase or wherever and have them sent to your offline wallet.

I did that and created a bunch of addresses one night on a computer with no internet connection. Then saved them all to a stack of thumb drives and store those in different locations. The key being only 64 characters, you can print it on paper or tattoo it on the bottom of your foot or store it however you want.

CBOE Website Crashes As Bitcoin Futures Trading Begins

The CBOEs website crashed within minutes of the CBOE open on Sunday which also marked the launch of the first bitcoin futures to trade on a major exchange while the price of a bitcoin spiked 10% in five minutes as the new contract with the ticker XBT fluctuated wildly.

The embarrassing crash happened as the entire financial world was closely watching the first attempts at institutionalization of bitcoin:
