K-var won't do squat for you so don't waste your time with them. Once you took possession of it that's it. You'd have to deal directly with Arsenal and good luck with that Arsenal has the absolute worst CS in the galaxy. They'd probably eventually fix it for you but you'll pay to ship it to them and you might not see it back for 2 or 3 or 4 months.

My rifle is confirmed to be in the XM55 serial range. Would this unfinished area underneath the lower handguard locking tab mechanism / front sling loop attachment, imply that there was no parkerizing underneath the paint? Im referring to where the red arrow is pointing to in the pic below:

That looks like grey parkerizing. An untreated barrel steel would have more shine to it.

Your rife should be fine.

Rob Ski only tested 1 rifle out of thousands built and imported.

I own one and it has been a great rifle. No issues with the finish either.

I suppose what made me suspicious overall was that I bought it from KVAR a couple of weeks ago, and Ive heard they didnt have anymore SLR107FRs, yet somehow KVAR turns one up for me and its in the XM55 range. Doesnt sound suspicious to yall as maybe these were identified to have paint issues and maybe held back from selling by KVAR? Now that they are fetching such high prices KVAR goes ahead and says, ďya you know about those 107FRs (with XM55 serial #ís) weíve been holding on to, lets just go ahead and makes some $ and get those out the doorĒ. Alas, I suppse Im a cynic and a conspiracy theorist. If I have paint issues Iíll just address if it comes my way. If indeed I have any issues with paint, I feel my thoughts above will loosely be confirmed about any sort of shenanigans that may have occured with the XM55 serial line of 107FRs.

XM55 doesn't mean anything really, it was suspected that it was solely a small amount of the slr107's these with paint issues, then a slr104 popped up that had paint that melted, then a SAM7, who ever was the paint guy messed up everything.

I have a xm55 and the paint is fine.

Thanks for the clarification. Didnt comment on my rifle yet. She is most definitely a beauty. Field strip was a real pain in the a$$ on this puppy, especially compared to my wbp cg1 and russian izzy parts kit build. I needed a needle nose for most of the take down. Gun looks downright sexy though, folding mechanism locks solid. Cant wait to get out to the range with it. I think it will be my favorite.

Back to the OP...one if these was my first AK. Itís my slim Bulgarian mistress who now shares time with her chunkier Russian new sister wife, a VEPR-FM. Oh, canít forget the 88 Izzy AK74 Troy Sellers built for me... the 107FR is an awesome first AK that sets a high mark for those who WILL follow after you experience it.

To fund more kit builds. Iíd rather have more actual service used aks even if they are parts kits than another imported for sporter use rifle.

And honestly it isnít any better than all the other aks I have to me.

Ok I can understand that. It's a beauty and no reason it shouldn't sell quickly to some very lucky buyer. Best of luck with the sale.

I got the Fighter 24 brake on mine as well after going through several brakes and its a winner. Light, short, and effective on the 16" barrel, can't think of a better option especially for the 24x1.5 threading.

If i can recall correctly, K Var and Arsenal announced the 107 FRs importation was being halted back in mid 2016.

The 107 FRs were supposed to come back in 2017
2017 is almost over and no new 107 FRs have come in yet.

Im pretty sure K Var has a few pallets 107s tucked away in the back of their warehouse.
and selling them at a PREMIUM on GB!
