Default AK Dust cover sight tester give away

Hello Filers. READ ALL BEFORE POSTING PLEASE

I have been using these sights now for a while and love them. Im trying to make them a regular item I sell but need to gain some attention and reviews about them to spread the word and show why its a good upgrade. I need feedback for making improvements before really ramping up production.

I noticed alot of threads asking about dust cover sights I have another option for AK users. I developed this sight as a replacement for my m85pap sight, but had done some experimenting on my ak74 pistol previously. After using them on the pap I have used them on ak74 and my wasr as well as my draco and even on my bullpup testbed.

The result is a reflexive cqb sight that acts like a long eye relief peep. Its very customizable by the user and can be adjusted for windage for a nice sight picture with the front sight centered and brought on target easily. With praxtice long range shots are doable, but the primary role is self defence ranges. I use mine as a truck gun/bush gun. Makes a great back up to a red dot. With a spare cover you can switch between a standard set up and dust cover sight in minutes.

I'll pick two "winners" from the comments and provide a sample for testing. The rules are simple I need people who will install and test the product and post a review within 1-2 weeks of recieving it.

If you want to take part simply post "in" but dont enter unless you can be quick in the install and shooting testing. Its fine to ask a question I'll try to answer.

Only your first post will count towards the selection. I will random number gen pick the winner. Winners selected Friday 6-8-18

If you are in the "nyet" crowd please stay out as it will make picking the winner harder for me. If you are not interested please keep moving along. I am including the people who are potential customers in the process.

See my wts ad quoted below for the more info, i pulled 2 for testing.
I will provide all the directions for install and will be working on a video.

Install 3 ways: rivet, weld or bolt on to existing dust cover.

For a krink look and speed of a red dot, on target effortlessly. "Close Encounters" are cqb sights, for fast targeting. Usable at extended ranges as well increased sight radius. Great for draco and wasr/ akm rifles. Install directions below pics.

$40 each $6 shipping 1 up to 5 pieces. Post I'll take it follow with dm. Paypal payment.

Painted black. All steel. Pre drilled 2 each 1/8 holes for easy attachment with 1/8" or 3mm rivets. Comes with roll pin to depress rear sight spring leaf in rear sight block.

Windage and elevation adjustable for initial install. To install, align with existing rear notch so front sight post is centered in the rear circle while the dust cover is on the weapon. Mark sight and dust cover. Remove dust cover. Install sights to cover as marked. Re-install and check for alignment with reg rear sight. If elevation is off then losen hex screws adjust the U as needed. For windage swap left and right screws/ or washer.

I use these on my draco and works great on a wasr too. Designed for speed in the bush as a cqb sight for counter ambush defense. Longer shots are possible. I paint my front sight green and the rear U of the sight orange for a high contrast.
Add glow paint for lowlight use.

I guess I'd be in. I have an idea of something not even close to similar but not that far off either. Mine would never go to market as I'm not into that sort of thing. I even have a top cover ready for it that I can swap out between a couple guns. Heck I'd even return it after testing so that you aren't out anything with a review of course.

I'm in for the project but I can't promise a bunch of range time reports.

In I’ve got a WASTR 10/63 UF that’s perfect for these, what paint are you using? Just Glow in the dark nail paint?

Could these be moved further back on the dust cover and still accomplish the same thing? If so I'd be in for one!

I'm sure they could but I would think that you would want a smaller aperture if you did

I am in.

I have a heavy duty receive cover with the bold on AR15 rear sight that seat too high and not compatible with my Rommy G front sight. This sight appears to be the best candidate for me to mount it toward the rear of my receiver cover.

+1 sounds like a good fit for the sight radius

I played around with this mainly on the chiappa in a rear set up. I think could put it there at the back ofan akm but would need an insert to change the peep dia. Mine was welded it to a hinge on the rear cover and screwed down on the front into an existing threaded hole on the cover where the pici rail was, in order to mount my siderail mount and red dot but use the sight. I did use and insert to make the peep smaller as a result. I noticed an accuracy improvement but a slight drop in speed, all due to the size/eye relief. It wasnt quite what I had made these for but seems to work ok that way.

I use cheap paint and do touch ups. When i do a glow coat its paint mixed with a glow pigment in a clear epoxy.

I'm definitely in for one if you make one with a smaller peep so that it sits on the rear of the top cover.

I would be down to try one. I have a plan to make a hinged top cover and would be needing a sight.

Me and Dom running BE/CE sights. His first time shooting the hostage bottle exercise (4" wide 2 liters, alternating colors) and the Close Encounters AK dust cover rear sight. Dom's first run was with his npap with Zhukov stock and std ak sights and his second run was with my romy wasr with wire folder stock and the dust cover mounted CE sights. He picked up the sights quickly and even beat his 1st time. Not bad. I made him a set on a yugo cover. The dust cover mounted sights feature a long eye relief open sight picture that is fast and natural to the target. Designed for my bush guns in Utah. I use them extensively on my Draco AK for hikes in the wild. Think truck gun. Think counter ambush and cqb assault. Think BE/CE. Highly customizable with paint try adding glow to the sights for day/night use. Elevation and windage adjustable for initial set up for a nice sight picture.

Ok sorryfor the delay i had a fire training class that ran late last night.

Random number gen has pulled up 7 and 16 those posts are the winners that makes
Classic Rocks and travinh the men, both tx guys.

Haha classic i hope you can do at least a coulpe range reports but looking forward to the general feedback. Travinh since you are doing a rear mount thats good for testing I really dont have much info on that yet will be a little more work getting the smaller peep figured out but at least I have played around with that concept on the pak-9 a bit though akm sight radius.

Shoot me a pm you two with shipping info. Or I'll get with you either tonight or Monday. I have more fire training today, this new mix is already showing a good outcome but some initial time congestion is expected. Anyways I look forward to the feedback and hopefully can make them even better or show new uses.

Thanks all who were willing here to step up! I'll be making another half dozen batch of the gen 1 ce sights soon if you guys still want some and I'll do a filer discount to say thx and of course feedback is appreciated.
B.E. out
