Default Bakelite magazine.

I got my first bakelit magazine. I know it's an izzy, it has some ink stamps on it but I was wondering if the 29 on it has any significance. Sorry my inexperience with tech does not allow me to post pictures.

Just the mold number from what mold it came out of when it was made.

Each Bakelite magazine is redeemable for a certain number of Russian mail order brides. That number represents how many it is good for.

Don't ask about the Cyrillic ones.

Well I have one. It's an Izzy.
I guess it was just a factory mess-up.
Runs fine though.

Will a magnet stick to the feel lip area, or you just can't see steel inside?

You are correct. A magnet won't stick to it.
It will stick to my Tula bake's lips though.

Nails,
You answered my question though. I was just trying to avoid buying any more without metal feed lips in the future.
So it seems, they are pretty uncommon.

Yet again, I see no reason for this line of talk in the first place.

It's not like you hear about bakelites breaking because they lack steel reinforced feed lips.

Kinda like "How long will it last? 1000 years, or 1050?"

Never said it won't last as long.
But it does give me a little more peace of mind knowing I have steel reinforced ones.

Kind of like Type 3 FN FAL cast receivers. They seemed to do just fine, but I would rather have a type 2.

I never said that I came to this "logical conclusion" through discerning data on reinforced vs non reinforced mags. It's a preference friend.

I don't tell you that your purple Fiat isn't a superior color of car to others. That's just your preference as well.

You like confidently displaying your ignorance.

Non-reinforced bakelite mags are not that uncommon. Hell, half of the ones I own donít have metal feed lips, both Izzy and Tula. At least 20, which have been acquired from multiple sources over the years.

There is a assload of bakelites with non reinforced lips, they didn't start until the third generation (ridge back) it's probably around 50-50 if it will have steel lips or not, you can see the steel cage just by looking under the feed lips if you want to know if yours has steel or not.

the only ones guaranteed to have steel are the non ridge flatback mags.
