Basically you will want an optic with this rifle. I put an optic on my RH10 also
This would be the perfect rifle to mod a dust cover with an hk rear sight.... I am going to look into what all that entails whenever I pick one up.

Nice to see another option. However thinking out loud, if these had a Romy underfolder and no rail it would make a great host for a SBR short Md65

Just picked it up. Very cool firearm. Sight post is drifted far to the left. I guess Romarm still cant fix that WASR cant tho.. Will take it to the range tomorrow and sight it in.

This WASR variant is VERY tempting.

OK. Took it to the range in -10. No function issues. Was accurate at 50yrds how it came, with front sight post drifted far to left. Ran some hollow point 8M3, GT, and soft point through it. The Golden Tiger performed the best. Back home, I disassembled and cleaned. I lightly polished the cast line on the RAK-1 hammer and removed the furniture to replace with a push-button folder. Much to my dismay I found a huge chunk of metal in the rear trunnion hole. The only thing that will fit is the slim wood screw which they installed sideways to get it in there. No way can I install the folder or any other stock for that matter. I tried to knock it out with a punch, but it is part of the trunnion. I guess I'll have to get the dremel out and see if I can make it work somehow.

I really like the look of the rifle with a romy side folder, but I don't know what to do with that barrel...

Unfortunately us Cali peeps can't SBR it - does anyone know of a russian-esque fake suppressor that slides over the length of the barrel?

I know CNC warrior used to make one with knurling for the Draco pistol, but that would mean I'd have to chop it which seems a little odd to me to have so much useless space...

Yeah! I was thinking of something like this too.

Lo and behold I did a little searching and found something similar to that from AK Builder:
https://ak-builder.com/index.php?dis...oduct_id=30090

On that note, does any one know the outer diameter of the barrel?

That cant isnít too bad, I wouldnít be disappointed by that..as for the hunk of metal, thatís nothing for an AK guy with a dremel and some cold blue. Iím sure once removed you can use any stock set up.

I wouldnít be bothered by any of your rifles growing pains, its romanian.

I'd think that a Md 86 clone in 7.62x39 could be a good seller and an interesting idea.

Anyone think these will be like the opap where they don't sell very quickly so they won't be imported again so they become rare? I like them and would have it on my list to buy. I'm just curious what everyone's opinions are?

No, the OPAP was quite unique and more of a military firearm.

This paratrooper is more of a hybrid for specific end user (SBR intent). The future political climate may be the deciding factor as to how many are imported.

No.
I don't think the OPAP sold well, but that is speculation based on things I've read.
Fast foward to today, they're gone, and people praise them like they're super AK's .....it's hilarious how the AK market works.

This rifle offered isn't anything ground breakingly new. M+M industries has imported this GB/FSB combined
style behind Century's back from Cugir since 2012 or 2013. Century only finally got on the ball in..... 2016 was it ,
with the RH10......and this is just a shortened gas version with no field reports yet on reliability.

So we could say for 5-6 years we've been getting Romanian AK's with a combined GB/FSB, and that is technically the modern style.
You've got a few years to not have to worry about the gun industry using Democrats to scare up sales

I'm more worried about century focusing on selling their US made aks than importing foreign made products.

Admittedly we have ALL been worried about this since 2015 I think.
... 2016 concern ramped up but the RH10 debuted with allegedly only "2000 imported" but they're still selling.
..... and now here we are in 2018, and new offerings.

However, strangely enough Romanian AK's keep pouring in, and prices down with Trump in office.
Whilst Arsenal keeps restricting supply, vendors play games, and prices go up......even after Trump in office.

Both are supplying Syria.......so far Romania has even circumvented Century to get rifles here via M+M who got sued by Century (frivilously)

If you like it, buy it. but I think a regular WASR will perform better with the longer sights. A non issue if you plan on running any kind of optic. Just a matter of aesthetics and personal tastes.
Do it!

Buy whatever you like, and don't be swayed by the "buy it just to sbr talk"

I bought one, because I liked the looks.

Sadly....been busy and the poor thing is waiting for me at my dealers.

Cannot wait to get it, and take it out and run some mags through it - and I have no plans to SBR it.

Having an RH10 (which would be the Paratroopers cousin I suppose), I would recommend buying one of these primarily if you plan to SBR it. The shorter sight radius makes it more challenging to shoot than your run-of-the-mill AK - especially if you have older eyes. Otherwise, plan on putting a red dot on it and you'll have a somewhat uniquely styled AK variant.

I've got one coming by the weekend. I've got enough traditional AK rifles, so I plan to "modernize" this one with the Magpul AK Moe furniture and red dot.

I'm seriously considering grabbing one and putting a folding stock and dong on it to make it a close quarters gun
