5.45 is a superior round designed by superior engineers, and performs better in its intended role. Glad the discussion is finally over!

Thanks for the info and the conversation.
I respect what your doing and trying to do with 5.45.

I'm not oblivious to what the 5.45 might be if there was high quality brass.

Pressure numbers would be nice but I'm sure your small rifle primers are giving you some indication if we're your at.

Primers start reverting back into the pin hole even on 223 AK,s when loaded to near max listed loads.

I wish Starline would make 5.45x39 brass now that they're starting to make rifle brass. If they can make a Grendel basic case they can certainly make at least a 5.45x39 basic case. It's the same rim size as 9x19/9x23 so it's not like they can't do it physically. A 39mm long basic case could enable people to load 5.45x39 and 7x33 Sako, plus wildcats like a 6x39 or a straight-wall 9mm for gas-operated ARs.

Starline did come up a few times in conversations at SHOT regarding them making 5,45x39 brass. Not holding my breath.

It would be awesome though....

I'm looking HARD at a 6mm x39 .
It already exists in the 6mm Beggs as a target round from 220 Russian cases but it could be made for general purpose from 7.62x39.
I was at a barrel makers yesterday seeing if any of his sources or buddies have a Beggs reamer or dies.
It's same taper and length as 7.62x39 but sized to 6mm snd has sharper shoulder junctions to reduce case stretch.
It would be slow than a 6mm ppc but a lot faster than 7.62x39 and would feed from a standard mag. In 6mm,.25 , 6.5 or even 7mm it would offer a good compromise of energy between a 223 and 7.62x39 .
I think it would be a good AK and combat and even hunting round .

I haven't seen the 6.5 grendel basic brass from Starline but I sure the hell will check that out.

I sent them several emails asking for 5.45 brass. I'd likely graphics one of those Centry oversized bore barrels and load 223 bullet in it for a Tantal kit I have.

I wish they would offer 308 or 30-06 basic brass for my 44BGM wildcat.

I'd love to see 5.45 length 9mm basic brass .
