Prices are changing rapidly, seem to be going up. Check some of the on-line gun auction sights for a sample of current prices.

Great firearms if you can find a reasonable deal.

That would be the "correct" going rate. But I can see even BF SKS's going for 500 soon.
Once all the AK's and AR's dry up people will see the SKS's excellent potential.
I wish I wouldnt have sold my YUGO

My friend just bought one at a gun show the weekend after the election for $290 after a little haggling. The stock is pretty beat up but that bastard is probably one of the most accurate rifles Ive fired. I just grabbed a T56 Chinese SKS for $275, and it was too beat up but it still shoots just fine.
Id say between $300-$400 depending on condition and model.

I bought my un-fired Norinco, excellent condition with 100 rounds of ammo and Chinese 20 round mag for $300. I sold the POS mag for $50 and the ammo was worth around $25 so $225 for the rifle. This was during this spring though.

You could still get a decent on for $225 and the recent imports from Albania have helped keep prices from getting too crazy

Looking at the auction sites it appears the initial panic surge has subsided and people are realizing the SKS is not an assault weapon

$300 for a nice condition example with all the original parts tops-

Also, most SKS aftermarket accessories like magazines, stocks, scope mounts and bipods are cheap crap most airsofters wouldn't even touch so regardless of what the
seller thinks it should add to the value these items generally make the rifle less valuable.

You can tacticool the hell out of your rifle-great- just don't be surprised to take a big hit at resale time

Very true statement about the aftermarket crap. Only thing I put on my Paratrooper SKS when I had it was a detachable 20 round mag, ny friend on the other hand had more shit than he could fit on teh rails at one time. He fortunately found someone dumb enough to buy the gun and all the accessories for $650, which is basically what he spent on everything so he didnt loose much.

Sure glad I held on to mine, that I purchased NIB in early 90's. I was thinking about retrofitting it with a 20 round internal magazine. I'd like to kick my self for selling my Norinco Paratrooper, that accepted the Duckbill Magazine but I still have my Norinco MAK90. Don't like the looks of the composite skeleton shoulder/handle stock but that's a relatively easy swap out.

If you pay over $350 for a stock Norinco SKS, you're getting raped.

i partially disagree depending on what year and arsenal it is

an older arsenal 26, has milled trigger ASSY, they sell for almost $200 themselves. a stamped chinese ASSY sells for $129, and a US made milled is about $100

the old 26's are threaded into the receiver, blade bayo correct, and military made.

the other arsenals, were made for US export, pinned barrels, cheaper all around IMO

i dont own a russian, too expensive for me, my second choice is a 1956-1959 /26\ and i'd value them at $450 right now, $550 if its a nice clean piece

With around 20,000 of the '56-'58 Chinese just being dumped on the market retailing in the $300 range in decent shape the prices of Chinese SKSs should stay pretty stable once it's realized they're NOT being banned

Quite a few new in the box SKSs coming out of closets now that asking prices are up- not selling as quickly as they're being listed for sale though

Lots of people trying to sell SKSs for big money- a few suckers buying who missed out on AKs or ARs and Tapco stocks and mags are backordered everywhere- actual gunbroker sales seem to have slowed down

Don't be surprised when Century discovers another "small" batch from Albania in a month or so with prices about $50 higher

Just paid $350 for a jersey legal sks locally here, beat up stock but a nice shooter.

I'll give u some advice if u do get an sks, the $24 stock from sarco is the deal of a lifetime.

Matter of fact, buy the damn stock even if u don't buy an sks. They are immaculate.

I guess I'd be called a sucker by some. My small town lgs has been swamped the past few weeks, with everyone wanting ARs and AKs, and paying crazy $. The consignment rack is full one day, empty the next. I just picked up a mint Norinco SKS and an equally mint Norinco AK for 1550/pair. The SKS was 650, which may seem like a lot, but based on prices of everything else, it's undervalued. New Centurys, Saigas, and VEPRs, are all going sky-high, and I know Norincos hold value very well. Did I pay too much? I don't think so. Based on tomorrow's pricing and availability? Definitely not.

The common theory is that the recent Chinese Type 56 carbines were imported from Albania (thus side-stepping the usual ban on Chinese imports of SKS rifles). China provided military aid to Albania, which is how they would have come to have them...

Any sks is going for $300 - $1200 that I've tracked both locally and online. The question now is not how much they are but how much and where is the ammo? The US is snipping of ammo sources for the 7.62x39 every chance they can.

Paid $350 for mine locally. Seen a few Yugos w/ prices @ $6-$800(not moving). Amazing what a little elbow grease can do to spruce 'em up. Still has some battle scars but I kinda like it like that. I got a nice extra wood stock w/ it too so after selling that for $30-$40 I'll come out pretty good on it.

Traded one for one of these today, BNIB. Bubba put a muzzle brake on the end of the SKS and couldn't get it to turn into place, and it shot minute of pie plate. Otherwise a very nice rifle, numbers matching, pretty nice bluing.
