Nice to see you're growing collection.

Playing Devil's Advocate here, you should grab a Saig12 and VEPR12 while you are building the AK stable

That is next on my list my friend! Mark my words, I will have one in less then two months time from now. I had one of the original VEPR-12's that shipped to Atlantic Firearms with the wood butt stock but I sold it a year ago to fund the purchase of my 2nd home. Standby!

I will spare you the agony of having to own such an inferior weapon system in your arsenal!

Last Saturday, I received a call from a local pawn shop that a Hungarian AMD-65 just came out of pawn and was available on the floor for purchase. Lo and behold, it was a TGI built FEG AMD-65 in like-new condition. We went back and forth on a number and settled on $650 plus tax/background check versus $775 plus tax/background check. As of today, she is officially on layaway and will be home in 30-60 days depending on other purchases that I make. I wanted to bring her home today but I needed the leverage out so I could pull out my Arsenal SLR107FR out of layaway next week from Atlantic Firearms!

Nice pick up. They are among the lightest AK's made in original configuration. I love mine, but then I love all of them.
You may have some mag wobble with steel mags. The TGI guns are known for this though it doesn't affect operation.
There are some options for the stock to get a better cheek weld, but I prefer to keep mine original.

I was pleasantly surprised by how light and well balanced the AMD-65 was in comparison to my other AK's + assault rifles in general. If my memory serves me correct, the 20 round Tapco magazine that was originally supplied with the rifle had little to no play when inserted. Your observation with the steel magazines is spot on with what I had read in the early stages of conducting due diligence. Like you, I will leave her the way I purchased it. I am already on the hunt for 20 round Hunarian tanker magazines.

Thank you for kind remark + input!

Holy Shit Dude!
Leave some for the rest of us....Just kidding, your on a roll, don't stop now.

It warms my heart to see all these classic looking Aks and not a bunch of tacticool junk.

What new AK (s) are you going to buy tomorrow?

You're on a roll. Not one in the bunch I wouldn't be proud to own.

I can't keep up with you, but I did buy another SLR104ur. I figured with them careening toward unobtainium status I better get another while the gettins good.

There is no turning back now my friend!

I wholeheartedly agree with you! The appearance of the rifle is what initially attracted me to the weapon platform. The wood + metal just look right to me. As time went on and my fascination for the platform grew, I learned to appreciate the weapon systems design simplicity. It can reliably perform in the most adverse of conditions due to its reduced design tolerances.

I am actively looking for other rifles but I am also patiently waiting for the right deals to present themselves. Atlantic Firearms sent my tracking information for my Arsenal SLR107FR this afternoon. I ordered a Ultimak optics mount + AimPoint T2 red dot sight for my build out. The TGI AMD-65 I put on layway two weeks ago will be in my possession in 30-45 days.

Outside of that, my main focus is to to actually shoot them. The only rifle I have shot from the lot is my 2013 WASR 10.

Thank you for the kind remark my friend!

Excellent purchase! You will thank yourself later on down the road for purchasing it while they were still semi-readily available and at a reasonable price point. Do you have photographs of your SLR104UR?

Please welcome the newest addition to the family, my Arsenal SLR107FR-31. Business as usual with Atlantic Firearms. Prompt shipping + excellent customer service! I ordered a Ultimak AK optics mount + AimPoint T2 for my build out. This will be my first stab at modifying a AK past its factory configuration.

Now, let me introduce you to MY Arsenal SLR107FR!

Arsenal SLR107FR-31 x Arsenal SGL21-61

Thank you, sir! I am adding Russian Slabsides into the mix next. Are there any other magazines worth looking out for?

When did you submit your paperwork? Are you planning on chopping your second SLR104UR or will you be leaving it in its factory configuration?

By the way, you are not making my life any easier by adding the temptation of adding one into the arsenal! I now have this to deal with on top of GT running out at SG by this coming weekend!

Ta Da...................form 1'd.

The one I have on layaway will stay in original configuration in case the prices get stupid high with the shortage of them coming from Bulgaria.

Nice Collection...Be aware the progression is AR to AK (or vice versa) then on to FAL or HKs

Round of applause! What was the turnaround time on receiving your Form 1?

Thank you, sir! It is a slippery slope indeed! I am strictly focusing on AK variants that I do not own and the continual buildout of my cache (ammunition + magazines).

Lock + Load!

120 Mile trip round trip, $200, + 3x 1,400 Round buckets of Remington Golden Bullet 22 LR = My 2nd TGI built FEG AMD-65! The seller was seeking $550 for the rifle, one magazine, + a box of ammunition. I was able to negotiate his asking price considerably to my favor as I was willing to make the drive to him this evening to complete the transaction. It was an unexpected purchase, but I was hard pressed to pass on the opportunity given the price point!

My one & only AK is this Norinco Type 56S.
I've replaced the Comp M4 with a Micro T-1.
