Default Atlantic arms WBP on Childers reciever

How long till someone shoots both this and the Morrissey receiver version to see which one is "better"?

Those bastards!! Every time I asked them about offering these, the response was 'we're considering it'. I got tired of waiting on a definitive answer, and pulled the trigger on a 2nd WBP w/ Morrissey a couple weeks ago. The WBP builds Atlantic offer, are very nice rifles. I still have my 'Polish Premium' I bought from them a few years back (1967 matching parts on a Childers receiver), but really wanted one on the WBP. Oh well.

DAMN,DAMN,DAMN. I'm on fumes in my procurement fund and didn't expect these so soon! I can't even put one on layaway for at least 2 weeks, I hope they're still available when I can. Damnit to hell...

From the trigger puller point of view, I can't tell the difference between my rifles made on morrisey or Childers receiver. I think builders will have more to say here as far as assembly process goes.

Looks nice, but at that price, I'd shell out the extra $100 or so bucks and snag a Sam7R

Business 101. If they gave an actual time frame as to when the ones with Childer's receivers would be available they would lose out on sales of their morissey receiver model because people would wait. They were ambiguous on purpose.

This is also being discussed in the Atlantic Firearms sub forum. Looks like they are currently working on a WBP, Morrissey, Russian Red version.

Tell me about it... I sat here for an hour watching this thread and just couldn't take the pressure anymore. I just put one on layaway and I'll be eating peanut butter and jelly sammiches for lunch till payday. Just can't see any downside to getting it even though I really don't need it, I just wanted to get one since Blaine started talking about the possibility of them a few weeks back. No way of knowing they'd pop up so soon I figured it would be another month or two if ever. So eventually I'll be able to do a head to head comparison to the Morrissey WBP I just bought but I don't expect any difference between the two performance wise I guess it's just the snob in me to want them both. Yes I admit to having terminal AK disease I'll just go with it, it really is futile to resist.

Seeing that price tag in a Trump economy, and deflated gun market asking a panic price reminds me of this scene in American History X

You guys are nuts to pay that......

Sure is a nice gun. Wish I could swing it.
There will always be someone who will want high end rifles, in spite of the cost.

I hear what you're saying......

However, I don't see what is "high end" about it personally.

The receiver is a flat piece of metal, and there's nothing magical about it as they all were properly heat treated.

Here's one at Copper Custom from Lee Armory for $900 which is nearly ~20% less and far more reasonable.

American non-chrome lined barrel, American receiver, cheap plastic grip. The FB barrel itself makes it worth more.

I didn't catch the barrel......good eye. So that was a bad example.

The point I was making is the WBP Rifle from Atlantic was just $850-$899 literally very recently in 2017.
Now , I see $1059......and to me, it's ludicrous.

To each their own , but I see these rifles as exploitative to keep prices high.
I'm pretty much done on the AK scene with enough Russians. Good luck gents.

$1100 I just don't see it.......and I'm half Polish

that's kind of where I'm at. We're in a trump market, prices dropping like stones, and this going for almost the price of SAM7.... just can't justify it... drop it to $800 and I'd bend and go for it

I love the look of it but it's just too expensive. Another $150 or so you can get into a Sam7sf. Me personally it should be priced along the lines of the 107r. Around $850-$900. I do love the wood grip, looks fantastic.

I'd like to know where you've seen them for only $100 more. Just did a quick search on GB and the lowest price is $1242 most are +$300-350. These WBP's are the best available factory combloc made AK's available to date. As I've said on other threads my WBP puts my 107-11 to shame in fit and finish and accuracy. If you want quality and I and many others do the reality in today's market is it's going to cost you $1000. If your standards are lower it's still gonna cost you $750-850. It's all a matter of choice and what kind of quality you want.

Except that they're not "factory made" unless you count Atlantic Firearms as a com-bloc factory....

$120 more actually, and a good deal for as long as they last. But I already have all the Arsenals I want or need.

Ok granted on the nit picking, but they still are the most quality built, with quality parts out there considering Atlantic is doing it.

There's two camps of people, those who view AKs/guns as just tools and those that collect them as well. For a collector in the AK market, the market seems to be in general very precarious (Vepr FMs, discontinued imports/import bans, etc.) so people that want a particular model feel the need to buy it now. On top of that, some would rather not wait for prices to *potentially* come down because they want the fun now and because they don't want to miss an opportunity. To those people, myself included, if we can afford a model we want, we buy it.

I do now how you feel though. To me, ARs are tools and I feel no need to get anything better or anything different from my Colt 6920. AKs are the only guns I've ever felt the need to collect or pay top dollar for...

We agree on all of the above.

I'm just a tool kinda guy, I don't see an AK "worth" over $1,000, as compared to the deflated gun market where I can buy 2 WASR's
that will do the job just as well. Especially a non-combloc parts kit built gun here in the USA. For me, that's 2 WASR's, or a SAIGA
for less with minimal updating.

WASR Canted sights, minimal issue. I would better spend the money on a 6.5 Grendel or 6.5 Creedmoor rifle with that same $1000.
I just do not see the usefulness, but that's because I'm a tool kinda guy, not a collector. $1000 parts built AK's did not hold value to
me in a panic market, and I don't see it in a Trump slump either. It's way out of touch.

We are all very different in that regard.

Brakes cost $40-$80.

Unless you're buying rotors. NAPA still turns rotors for cheap.
