So do most of you use an extra power spring or standard recoil spring?

so, there's an NPAP at classic right now for like 469.99 with the black plastic furniture. Maybe more rugged than the wood Century puts on them. But I still would have to find the surplus wood stock set or...dye or paint the black polymer?

I love my NPAP. It was my very first Kalashnikov and it has provided loads of shooting fun. For the price you just can't get a better, good ol' fashioned Combloc AK 47. I do agree that you should change out the stock furniture because it is very cheap.

Just popping in to see what's new. I don't relaly have any new NPAP news myself.

However, I found out our video decided someone to pass on the RAS47 and buy an NPAP instead, so that 1 case right there has made doing the video worth it.

Just added a Wolff XP to mine. Runs great as usual. Still propels extracted cases out like a canon, and still cycles wonderfully with all magazines. Great rifle, I expect it to last many many thousands of rounds! Right about at 1,000 so far (a good start).

I recently looked at a Zastava AK, it was so nicely finished that I began to get interested in trading in my Romanian cheapy. However, it did not have a chrome lined barrel - so I decided to hang on to my tried & true (paid for) rifle instead.

There's nothing wrong with a tried, true and paid-for rifle, but don't let the lack of chrome lining throw you. Zastava makes good barrels.

Curious, Classic got some Npaps with the plastic stocks in. My first Npap was the plastic Npap as a 30 rounder several years ago. New production or found a pallet?

Dang! I Like the price too. If that black plastic furniture is an improvement over Century's "balsa wood" then that's a helluva deal!

Not sure how trimbing the wood furniture would make it into better wood?
Its just crap. Its not the shape of the stock comb. Its the fact that the wood is very light weight, porous, and is not at all durable.
It deforms and breaks down during even normal recoil and use, resulting in a loose stock to receiver fit, which eventually turns into the stock all but falling off.

But since Yugo milsurp furniture fits onto an NPAP N/P, the solution is both easy and inexpensive.

And yep, the NPAP-DF does come with military grade furniture; both the wood forearm and metal folding stock.

I would like to find some of the Yugo milsurp furniture that is inexpensive, Apex sets are more than they should due to scarcity. I had a set that was a little too dark and sold it for perceived much need Russian laminate. Those are easy to find and inexpensive. Whoops on that one. Mishaco your right the current wood on the NPAP, and WASR is light and really soft reminds me of non kiln dried pine we used to work with in the building trade.

the century wood is light pine and sometimes pale beech. wood is GARBAGE. you can dig your thumbnail into it and watch it deform. did that on my WASR and nearly fell out of my chair

The wood on my N-PAP is of the beech variety, it's a harder than pine but too soft for a gun stock.

There were internet rumors that Century was using teak furniture, but it's actually beech or pine.

How do current production NPAPs compare to a m85, its the only Serbian currently living with me, bulged receiver and chrome lining aside are the fit and finish the same? I've been on the fence and the polymer stock version is about $455 maybe the lowest these will go.

[QUOTE=mishaco;4270347]It will serve you well for a long time. But you probably do want to replace the furniture. They ship with Century US mfg wood, which is crap (all Century's AKs do though, including the wASR and RAS47).[/QUOTE

The wood furniture that comes on the m92 is Beechwood and it looks bad because it hasn't had a finish put on it. If you take your time and sand it down properly, add stain & finish, you can actually make them look really good. I've finished 3 pair and they all look great. Might surprise you, or you can just send them to me as a gift.

The crap on the RAS47, Npaps, etc is some soft POS that staining wouldn't help....

The Zastava rifles are "good rifles". Not great, not excellent, good. Wait until they are no longer imported and watch the naysayers clamor for one. Just like the Russian guns, just like the Chinese just like etc, etc...
They always take on mythical status once they become scarce!

Sweet. I love this trigger. My Wasr has one and it's great. I may add an Npap in a few months since they can be had for pretty cheap.

Classic had them for 480 and ran out.

Got more posted today for 540.....

Looks like other vendors has the same plastic model now, guessing that is what's coming in from Zastava?

It is horrible lol.

I was fortunate to get some from valleyrat in marketplace. I did snag a set off fleebay one time, but it was over a $100....

Looks like $155 set at Apex if you're in a hurry.
