Default Polytech double folder...mine again tomorrow!

Getting my old Poly double folder back tommorow after a ton of regret over selling it off...I'm very happy!

Cool, I just sold mine a couple weeks ago. Funny how that works huh?
I am replacing it with a Norinco 56S-1. I have discovered I like the Norincos more than the Polytechs. Just seems like they are more like a true Chicom military issue Type 56. Polytech put a lot into their guns like the spring loaded FP, extended safety ledge, extended mag catch, larger pistol grip, and shinier blued finish. All of these things make it a 'better' rifle I know, but I am weird and like my guns as military as possible.
Plus, I don't feel as guilty taking a Norinco out and running a couple thousand rounds through it hehe.

But I am in the minority. Most people get hard over the double folders, so you made a good decision no doubt.

I'm just curious who is the importer on this lovely DUF?

It must be on the underside of the receiver.

That is factory 416 if I'm reading it right.

I would bet 3 dollars that Kengs in Atlanta Ga. imported it.

I love underfolders and that is my grail.....

I had two and let them go because I never shot them. I made a milled mak90 double folder that I acually shoot.
I just had the opportunity to get a NIB polytech DF and picked it up this week. I just can't stay away from them.

Mine came off the line only a dozen or so units after yours based on the serial number!

Chicom AKMs are my favorite.

This for many reasons, not the least of which being the excellent triggers.

So, how long ago did you sell it before you are reunited with your poly?

Bought my Polytech Milled UF Legend NIB back in 1995. Then I sold it to my brother in law in 1999 for $400. Offered him an even trade with my AR pistol just this past June. I reunited with my Poly in July. He only shot approximately 400 to 500 rounds between 1999-2002 and it has been a safe queen since.

I’m very happy to be reunited with my Polytech Milled UF Legend after 17 years. :-)

I ended up getting rid of the Poly in January of this year and the other rifle (Izhevsk SKS) I'm picking up as well in October of 2016.

That bayonet is insane! It looks like a Mosin bayonet, mounted like an SKS bayonet. Thats... genious

Beautiful rifle I've got the twin to it at least 10,000 through it in two decades looks as good as new,but well taken care of.

Pretty much the Chicom AK spiker bayonet is like their SKS spike, just a bit shorter and with a different locking system.
From what I've read, both were introduced nearly at the same time too.

I like the fixed stock spiker guns a lot as they are the closest to actual Type 56 rifles imported into teh USA.

It would have been really neat if someone ever would have imported a spiker witha milled receiver. At least you can make one yourself using a MAK90.

I agree, for me Norincos from Factory 66 just feels more solid overall than the Polytechs.

Picked it up about two hours ago, looks to have the correct muzzle nut on it now.

I suspect a lot of people sell a gun they have to get something else and immediately regret it. People tend to take those things they have for granted and long for the grass on the other side of the fence. After the first gun is gone it becomes the grass on the other side of the fence.

Sorry for the extremely slow reply, but, I am humbled you of all people replied to my post. It is odd, I sold this rifle when I was in bad times, and was able to get it back by the farthest reaches of circumstances. I have been on the lookout for a pre-ban 56S as my straight cut MAK-90 is cool and all, but, it's not the same. I really appreciate your videos and feedback as they are always factual, articulate, and to the point.
