Lose the bump on top and the goofy swell on the bottom and I could see it being decent. Also as it is can it be run without the top piece? If not then no bueno.

Nah bro. My opinion doesn’t meant much cause I like the aks classic but even if I were into rails and stuff this design isn’t aestically pleasing.

I think there is resounding evidence to consider a new design.

Is that raised top portion a slot to which an optic or rail section could be mounted?

If you like the forward mounted red dot (old school Ultimak special), that taller portion might allow red dots to live longer while sitting a bit taller on the frying pan.

Kudos for being an innovator, and soliciting the opinions of this group of internet aaaholes, but that fat bottomed girl is ugly.

Wouldn't buy.

Top - curve it over with no ridge or rail and then "cheese grater" it with holes - or maybe narrow "chevron" slits with the points away from the muzzle.

Bottom - narrow and curved - about like the standard AK guards - but then texture surface with a "grid" or with vertical grooves maybe 1/8" or 3/16" wide, all along the length. Or do a grooved "woodgrain pattern" into the metal. Flat black finish but who knows might be cool if it can come primered and guys paint them or cerakote to whatever color.

For those who are hung up over the aesthetics of the lower HG, it really is very comfortable in the hand.

Why would I pay double(or more) over a functional hand guard to buy that which turns the hand guard into a metal heat sync?

No I wouldn't buy that.

Thank you for detailed feedback and your blunt honesty, I'm an innovator and there is an audience for tactical rails of all makes and shapes! I've been thinking of a something that caters to the flavor of AK traditionalist. In the meantime, I'm going to give this ugly duck away to the 100th poster, if it makes it that far! lol

Honestly isn't that bad, like not bad enough that I'll try to be the 100th lol. It really is better than some of the puke fest mall ninja rails out there with twelve bipods and anti aircraft spotlights mounted on them.

if you must, i would go with either the Zenitco rail set up or Ultimak + http://cdn3.volusion.com/vawhb.dxcnr...jpg?1403638599

It does look like it has some sharp edges, and the bottom should be rounded off. I dont really use top handguards much outside of a railed gas tube so just a lower handguard with a keymod/mlok interface would interest me most.

Bitches here won't buy it. But they will take it for free. Why the AK market sucks for innovators, for $100, Alex.

I've been thinking about giving your products a go.
The lower portion looks like it might be comfortable in the hand.

choas inc,
Modern/AL hardguards/rails vs traditional furniture is a REALLY FINICKY FINE LINE for a lotta AK BELIEVERS/PRACTICIONERS...
Don't disparage if you give you're 2nd prototype away to 100th post; he may give ongoing countering favorable PUBLIC/marketing feedback.
I run a Ronin custom cheese-grater drilled polymer top cover and grip on my M92. But I also favor a Midwest Industries Gen1 TI-recessed top cover over a Gen2 bottom grips on anothe M92; depends on compliance beliefs with traditional (often, rails aren't us) traditional enthusiasts AK.
