Default Would you bother with a Norinco Hunter conversion in 2017?

Just wondering where opinions stand on this currently. Not sure what all options there are but I know the main one at least is a Galil. Every old thread I've found has the stupid Photobucket "Please update your account" bullshit.

If you want that older Galil or Valmet look, then go for it. Performance-wise it doesn't offer anything over what's already out there though. But you already know that.
It's all about the look you want in the end.

If I had the parts, money and technical know how I would definitely attempt a Norinco Hunter/ Galil clone.

Check out this recent link from the gunsmiting section

Wish I never sold mine. But I would have kept it in original configuration

I would leave it in its original configuration. They are getting rarer as many of them have had a Galil conversion done.

Galil kits are plentiful right now. Grab one from AoA or Apex, a Tortort 80% receiver, Yugo M70 bolt/bullet guide, and I believe a forum member has made 7.62x39 Galil barrels before.

I had a Norinco Hunter. Couldn't sell it fast enough. Awkward reach to the trigger...wouldn't feed hollow points...odd slant back receiver...etc...etc. Will never own another one.

I would only to have a unique rifle. The stock trigger is awful in all ways.

For good reason, as many pointed out here who owned them, stock Hunters suck.

Converting them to be Galil-like is their only saving grace.

There is absolutely no collector value for neutered, sporterized imports. They are the policy of antigunners and an insult/slap in the face to us gunowners.

The Norinco Hunter I used to own would shift its point of aim as the barrel heated-up. Always suspected it was the way the hand guard was attached.

About to jump into a hunter to Galil conversion. Need to order a parts kit, then send it to be cut up and built. I have another hunter I'm leaving original though.

I like the stock trigger. Very light break with no play.
