Default DDI Side Folder AK47SF

Purchased this all American Made AK from a member here. STOP, read the entire post before you reply with DDI blah, blah, blah…… or you should have purchased blah, blah, blah……..,

I read/knew about/understood the following on DDI:

1. They are pretty much out of business
2. PSA denied to pick up the tap for warranty services
3. Robski’s test video and the broken extractor issue
4. Members on akfiles reviews/feedbacks.
5. The stock fell off/broken hinge.
6. Multiple other youtube review videos
7. The owner “Sucks” and DDI blah blah blah…..

Also, please do not reply with “You should have get a combloc AK….. , etc…. etc….”. I currently have these in my possession:

1. Arsenal SGL21-61 (x2)
2. Arsenal SLR-107R
3. Arsenal SA-M5 (.223)
4. WASR 10 (2017)
5. Romanian AES 10B
6. DRACO – C Pistol
7. Yugo M70B1 (US receiver/barrel)
8. Chinese MAK 90
9. Hungarian S85M

I love this Country. I want to spend my hard earned dollars with domestic products/services as much as possible. I gave PSA a try at their all new US made AK beginning of the year and they failed me twice. If they improve their products and get their act together, I’ll give them another chance but until then…….

Also, I fully understood (expected) with DDI AK, I’ll have to accept these:

1. Absolutely no warranty services.
2. Terrible resale value (I completely have no expectation whatsoever with resale value). Worse case scenarios, I’ll be out $610.
3. Most companies ONLY honor warranty for the original purchasers or just 1 year, so, most of my other items are out of warranty services too.

With all these boring blah blah blah…..aside. Here are some pics:

The fit and finish are excellent. The handling characteristic is comfortable (much better with the added rail and the Hogue grip. The rail is the Arsenal PR-01 purchased for $50 and the Hogue grip was donated from my spare parts box). I also tried the AFG and VFG but still prefer no forward grip. The following magazines I tried fitted nicely (no, not all of them were used with the rifle):

Hungarian tanker (love these mags).
Yugo BHO
Croatia BHO
Chinese flatback
A few other surplus mags (forgot the country of origin)
Russian Bakelite
Tothtool
Palm
Magpul
Tapco
East German

BTW, I am a mag whore. I only used the Hungarian, Yugo, Chinese, Palm and Magpul. All were loaded with 20 rounds for the initial outing for a total of 100 rounds (I have other AKs, therefore, can’t afford to use all my ammo with just one rifle). It functioned smoothly and flawlessly for the first 100 rounds. Just sharing my experience on this all American made AK.

OT

Bought their initial non-blem barreled receiver and they sent me a POS. Returned that one and it was replaced with a bigger POS. They refunded the money after the second time.

For that kind of money, I think you did great. I'm jealous of your impressive collection. My Hungarian parts DDI has been flawless past the first thousand rounds. It seems to be my best shooting AK as well, with the Draco a very close second.

Mine has run like a top and much more accurate than most of my com-blocs. Zero issues.

Can't wait for your review on that rifle. I have my eyes on one as well.

OP, have you shot your DDI yet? If so, how well did it perform?

Actually the seller was very generous that he also included a Troy AK-47 Short Bottom Handguard in the package.

Op,

Well I hope it continues to run well for ya man.

I bought 2 of their earlier models, when DDI started out in their first 12-14 months.
I didn’t buy their later made “all American made” models. But their part kits rifles I own, still run great for me, and glad I bought them.

The UF was their 4140 milled receiver with Bulgarian parts (love the Bakelite)
And their Hammer Forged receiver, with Bulgarian parts, polish wood furniture

Just a heads up but another member had tried to contact DDI about customer service since PSA is no longer accepting warranty work for their rifles. I guess DDI's customer service email isn't working anymore. Post is down in the PSA vendor section. I hope no one runs into problems.

I’d buy a surplus extractor claw. Beyond that hopefully you got a good one. I only owned their kit built rifles. A Hungarian parts kit underfolder and Bulgarian parts AK74. Of the two only the 74 remains. Only had about 1k through the underfolder when I sold it. Never had problems with it, I just found I didn’t care for the underfolding stock. Kinda wish I had kept it though, it was a very pretty rifle. The Bulgy ‘74 has 2 cans of 7n6 and about 800 rounds of Silver Bear through it without a hiccup.

If it works it works.

Fillers is a fucking asshole though and is still creeping around the gun industry.
