Default Anyone Want To Share Your AK Mag Collection?

Honestly, just had dinner and relaxing for a moment before getting back to work...and since 'work' for me is mostly to do with guns, its not exactly miserable stuff but needed to take a load off my feet.

This summer, we did 2 videos looking at my AK mag & pouch collection. Its nothing formal or that I've put a lot of time/money into; more like things I've accumulated the years.

However after doing those videos, a few big wholes in my collection became apparent to me, so since then I've been casually looking for a few odds & ends.

And so so, I thought I'd make this thread. I had two missing types come in today, which pretty much rounded out my Russian side. Being excited about this, we tossed all of these onto the table and recorded an update video, focusing on just the Russians.

Here's what I have...thought it might be fun for others here to share theirs too?
And oh, I shoot with all of these. So none are in 'new' or 'mint' condition. They've all been in a rifle and had bullets through them, because I enjoy fun.

1) original early 5 cell pouch with shoulder strap, full of 30 rd slabsides - I didn't ever figure I'd be able to get 5 slabs because of their cost and relative rarity, but just recently a big batch came in and prices were really reasonable. Heck, almost cheaper than Arsenals! So now i have a complete set for my Russian AK T3.

2) earlier 3 cell pouch filled with Izhevsk alloy 'waffle' mags - I've always thought these were neat, and over the years I've traded around and ended up with 3 pretty nice examples. Its amazing how light the whole set is too.

3) another early 3 cell, this one filled with the standard ribbed mags - Your typical AKM stamped ribbed mags. I don't have anything interesting with special stampings, sorry but have this to go along with my waffles.

4) '70s era 4 cell pouch, with 30 rd bakelites - I have 2 Tulas and 2 Izhevsks, 1 flatback and 1 ribbed back of each. To be fair, this pouch might be Bulgarian and I am not 100% sure. Good enough though, for now at least.

5) Romie 4 cell RPK pouch, with 4 40 rd bakelites - I don't have any Russian metal RPK mags, but did recently get a set of bakelites, which I prefer anyway. Not only lighter but cooler looking IMO.

6) mid-production 3 cell pouch with Izhevsk AK74 bakelites - Believe it or not, until now I just had DDR 5.45x39 bakelite 30 rounders. They were good enough, but finally got a few real Russians. After I got the SLR-105 and tossed Russian wood on it, I had to get these right?

7) Russian RPK 4 cell pouch w/o ffront pocket, filled with Molot 45 rd RPK74 mags - I've had a couple of these for a long, long time but just recently got 2 more and this pouch to finish the set. Bakelite is still neat, but too bad my RPK74 is now wearing plum hehe.

8) another 4 cell, this one filled with Izhevsk and Tula 30 rd AK74 plum mags - Another one I've had for a long time, all with original markings intact and while used, still in good shape. I like that the Tulas seem a bit smoother and shinier. Looks neat in a Krink.

9) Another Russian RPK pouch, this one filled with Molot RPK74M 45 rounders - While I don't have any plum RPK74 mags, I do have these 'true black' with horizontal ribs in 5.45x39. They look much better in the RPK74 compared with the bakelites. At least, I'd imagine so?

10) And finally, a late production 3 cell pouch 3 30 rd Izhmash 'true black' AK74M mags in it - These just came in and are ones I really have been on the lookout for for some years. I even had this late style pouch empty and waiting for them. I wanted this type of mag for my SGL31, letting it be just that much closer to the real thing. Quite very happy to have these finally.

And that's what I have for Russian mag pouch sets. Not complete but a lot more so than it was in the past.
Just thought it might be fun to talk about this stuff a bit? So what do you have? Any special mags you enjoy? cheers.

TP, what is that pouch on the lower right? looks similar to the one next to it, just a couple slight differences. I never noticed a pouch like that before now.

My AK mag collection so far is really simple, just beginning, but i'll chip in for now and maybe I can come back with a bigger post in the future. I'm just a newbie getting started here.

1. 1 Tapco 7.62x39 30 round polymer mag

2. 1 New Zastava BHO stamped steel 30 round mag

3. 1 New Zastava BHO stamped steel 30 round mag with double window cutouts

I do want to grab some surplus steel, bakelite and a top-loader drum in the future.

Looks like you need to head over to the MP and round up couple dozen Bakes.

Yeah I need something that's for sure. I blew the gun budget for the year though. Maybe I'll get some for Christmas.

I still need 75 more, if anyone's got them. Not quite ready to take a chance on these new production Serbian ones.

Does anyone else maintain an electric inventory?

I inventory everything, even have all the tins/boxes labeled so I can find what I need when I need it right away without wasting time opening up all boxes before I finally find what I needed in that very last box (happens to me all the time).

I got boxes and boxes of them all over the place. No way I am going to be able to remember them all. Let just say that I am a mag whore.

New Zastava 30rd polymer mag and a couple of Polish V-Project mags. Oh! And a Magpul 30 rounder and a white Tapco mag.
Plan on getting some metal mags soon.

I've never been able to maintain an inventory. Shit just gets piled up waiting to catalog.

Plus, I like surprises.

My War rig is full of AK103 mags, I have a 4 cell mag pouch for the original Yugo mags I like to use with my Npap, 4 Izhmash ribbed steel mags in a russian 4 cell, I'm trying to find a 5 cell russian pouch to put the russian slab sides I have in, but I don't want to pay the $40 or so I've seen them pop up for.

A couple of Molot RPK 40 rounders, 55 or so Bakelites, and a handful of misc stuff, bulgy waffles, ect

I do have a actual surplus Bulgarian steel mag I really like, not the new production stuff, It's marked with the letter E in a circle, which from my understanding was from Arsenal Bulgaria was renamed to something else for a short while, Actual surplus Bulgarian mags I've only seen for sale a few times so I assume their pretty uncommon.

It was one of the mags I got with my first AK, the other was a plain jane romanian that had issues......she was sent downrange to be put to rest.....

I have a ammo inventory but thats classified.

I definitely do not have over 200 mags myself...haha...

All of mine are in mag pouches, and while I am not religious about it, i do make an effort to put the right mags in the right nationality of pouch.

Some ass sent me aRussian polymer mag...a hhot pink Russian polymer mag lol.
My wife calls it the 'pussy mag'.

The ak74 is just cool with all the difference in mags over the years. Bakes are just awesome to look at as well.

Not much of a collection since not so many. And not really a collection, most of those I use, not collect.

1 5rnd Egypt

30 rounders:

1 bake izzy
3 East German with pouch
2 green prototype Finnish FDF RK62 mags
1 Sako civilian black plastic
around 5 - 6 RK62 steel mags
2 Finnish FDF stamped black plastic mags for RK62/RK95

EDIT: forgot some 3 PMAGs and one unknown chinese. Magazine that is. Not really using that one, I don't care about chinese, whether it is mags, guns or food.
