I'm so glad to see it's working out for you, and it supports my belief that as long as you stick with a full rifle and not just a kit, PSA is a good buy!

For those asking about the blemished models, I got a blem, and never found anything I would consider a blemish...

Fpk762,

What was the size of the drill bit that you used to enlarge the stock pin hole?

Thanks,
Cal

Hi cal I used a #15 drill bit on the stock. It measured .180"

As far as fitting the latch, file here where i marked it with the white line. The russians didnt have the hole cut very straight to begin with so i had to file one side more than the other but its pretty easy to eyeball it. I did it with the stock on the gun just fine, made it easy to file and check multiple times. When it latches but is hard to press the button you are very close! I found using alot of pressure worked better than trying to go fast, you can angle the file through the notch to get a straighter pass and wider coverage rather than just in and out half inch at a time.

Time will tell. I hope so but I doubt it. Too much of a gamble. Same category as DDI, Century and IO.

I disagree. PSA has sold 1000s of their AKs by now and you really dont hear any negative reports from owners of the rifles.

You`ve not heard of PSAs assassins silencing speakers out? It`s Clinton-esque!

As I said, I've been watching them closely, between this board and others, and it seems there is a very safe consensus:

Don't buy the kits. Everyone here who had a problem with the PSAK product had purchased the barreled receiver kit, NOT a full rifle. Everyone who has thrown up a review of a full-rifle purchase, myself included, has been very happy with the product.

It doesn't matter how bad the customer service is, or how many PSA AK's have been returned by forum members here (Not part kit builds from DDI). Not returning phone calls and having terrible customer service is a "good buy" in the American AK market.

I'm glad you are enjoying that rifle and everything worked out for you. I just wish it worked out for others too.

The claim that I am making PSA out to be the Clinton/DNC BS is pretty fucking lame. I get you don't like an opinion that differs than yours on PSA but that doesn't mean I'm wearing a fucking tin foil hat.

Just got an email from PSA saying that the triangle folder is ready. It comes with red furniture. $629.

Gentlemen, I know that these things passed Rob Ski's torture test but is it safe to say that they are good buys? The first real deal non-bend-over-and-take-it American AK that walks the walk?

Are there any notable deficiencies vs traditional combloc (Russian, Polish, Bulgarian) AKs in terms of construction? e.g. I see that it uses a billet bolt (but a forged carrier and no cast parts anywhere). Does this pass muster?

They are new, psa gives some a "blem" staus but in all honesty I didn't find any blems at all and have read that alot about any blemish items they sell.

I didnt buy a triangle folder, yet lol i bought the side folder with the arsenal style stock and put a russian izzy on it. Received the rifle last friday, 400+ rounds between sunday and money.

There seems to be a VERY distinct difference in available products. Do NOT get a kit, get a complete rifle. Then, they seem to be good buys. Mine has no sign of cast anywhere that I've checked, so nowhere important.

surprised anyone is giving these a chance considering the pages and pages of negative impressions following the initial release.

it will be nice to see more first hand reports after the round counts build up.

I believe the initial gripes were the 1st gen models, with cast parts. Rob completed his 5000 round test on the forged Gen 2 model and it passed without notable failures, as far as I remember.

vast majority of the gripes didn't reflect any actual use from what i could tell. most ppl were pissed about feeling PSA misrepresented the parts being cast vs. billet vs. forged.

there did seem to be some QC issues, guns showing up with minor issues that had gotten out the door (HG retainer cuts, furniture fitment, machining marks).

i'm looking forward to seeing more member reports after some real round counts. PSA would sell a lot more on the files if that happens.

Agreed, I recall much bloodshed and gnashing of teeth over the early editions and misrepresentation. I`m not too worried about the QC stuff you mention, and I recall seeing the same thing, and hoping their act straightened out. It would seem they have lately, I`m not seeing much hate for the Gen2 PSAKs, and I`m giving serious consideration to making one my next AK after I build my PM90.

Don`t remember if it`s been addressed previously - with exception to the minor fitting required for the triangle, has any trouble fitting surplus wood or poly been noted?

I am curious about that as well, When i have time i will see if my 104fr hand guard will go on as far as the rear its a different trunnion than the fixed stock.

Just ordered the new wood triangle folder. Hopefully ships as quick as the first one.

So would people put these up on the same level as the new WASRs? Or SLRs?

It will take a very long track record before I would ever make that claim. They seem to be a good choice if you can't or won't buy imports though. Time will tell. Remember Waffenwerks? They were great too... at first.

Exactly what i was gonna say, only time will tell! But so far so good. 420 rounds exactly, i usually shoot that in a year for x39. Physically i know its gonna dump another mag when needed. It looks good, will just have to monitor.

My poly version will be delivered this Friday. I wish that I knew about the triangle metal stock & wood hand guard is available this soon, so I would wait for it. I paid $579 + $55 (izzy surplus stock). At the end, I have the extra poly stock to play with for $5 extra.
