Default Partial Romy G kit- to fold or not to fold?

I picked up a partial Romy G kit in the MP recently and was planning on building it out as a fixed stock as it was to begin with.
Now Iím leaning towards a second Khyber baby (sidefolder AKM). It needs a selector, rear trunnion, and trigger guard assembly so it wonít be matching numbers anyway.
What say the Files?

I would just put the standard rear trunnion(the fixed stock one in the receiver) and buy a side folder like this. You can switch out stocks with ease and have both styles whenever you want.

Put a fixed stock on it. You can't butt stroke people with a folder.

Fixed if you shoot it a lot and don't have any real use for a folder .

Otherwise do as you want.

I’ve never had a wire folder, but I venture to say- my big-ass head wouldn’t like them so much for cheek welds. I like straight comb underfolders (my next 5.45 will be an UF) and the triangle folders.

I was in the same boat. Sent my romy g kit to jbi to be built into a khyber copy. I just got it back today. I will take it out tomorrow to see how she shoots.
Akblue, i never get tired of looking at your handywork. The rifle with the crimped triangle and primers in the grip is what i am going to shoot for.

Mine is an 81g kit being built with a triangle folder and polish grip and handguard. Looked good laying the parts out!

1986 dated 'G" kits are pretty uncommon. They were the last date of production for those AKM's

use a fixed stock trunion. you can always pop in a folder made to work with one. You cannot, however, use a fixed stock on a gun made with a folding trunion.

Folders are cool but absolutely impossible to get a cheek weld on. The wire butt stock that comes with most folders also makes them uncomfortable to shoot.

I wouldn't build another folder.

You can use a polymer stock or the metal triangle on a Khyber type build. The polymer is tbe same as a fixed stock but it folds.
The Russian/ Bulgarian left side folder is the best design and works well. IMHO and experience.

I have to agree with you. The triangle and polymer folders are easy for me to use.
Then again, I also like straight comb underfolders. Iím probably going to make my Century M74 do a little underfolding after I chop it and install the Krink hinge block.
