Default Milled mak90 good deal?

Milled mak 90 with thumbhole stock in very decent shape. Looks barely fired after disassembling. Comes with a 75 round drum( not sure of country) 4 30s all seem to be chinese or atleast 2 for sure and 3 5 rounders for $890. Looking for a Chinese but wanted to see if I should look around. Shop will do 90 day layaway too which is always a help this time of year.

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal, especially if the drum is Chinese. Most stamped Mak's are $600-$800 with milled guns having a premium over that.

I say go for it. I picked up a used stamped MAK-90 locally for $550 last month, straight cut, looked barely fired but only came with 1 Tapco mag, (Im assuming Chinese) screw on muzzle brake, and a shitty dark green cotton sling. With a milled receiver and all those mags assuming they are real Chinese I would get it at that price myself

Could be a crap Korean drum, bonafide 30-rd Chinese flatback commons are $25 nowadays and the milled rifle in Good+ cond is $850 so your LGS knows their shit.

At a minimum, you need to buy the unfinished IWD stock, which is pricy.

IWD stock is a definite. As for the drum it was a rear loader and had a blued finish like most other chinese parts. It also had some spots of rust and I could just tell it was older. Also FWIW, the receiver said I.D.E. INC above the made in China stamp. Is that anything to be concerned over? I see most that say Acc intrac or something of that sort. Is this just the importer?

Value is subjective.

That being said, if I had the money I'd do it. Always wanted a milled Chicom & in my opinion that price seems pretty good.

Fair deal yes, great deal no IMO. Unless you are set on a Chinese milled consider the price of a stock conversion and possibly more, depending on your plan. You could get a slightly used SAM7 for about 1k, threads, lug, normal.stock, warranty, parts available...

Maybe only $900, plus the Sam7 will come with side-optic rail, which, unless you're just an indoor plinker, a necessity. I recently picked a Sam7 SF (side-folder) for only $1000. Deals are out there, just need to be patient and have some cash in your sock for when they pop up.

How used was it? Any visible wear?

Is beautiful, perfect. Guy bought it new this spring only firing a few mags thru it. He drove 4 hours to deliver to me also. Unfortunately no cleaning came with, although I nearly tore up box looking in the cracks

I was thinking the same thing as I started to realize the $300 on top of the rifle for the IWD stock. The barrel was already threaded which is a plus. I've been looking for a 1911 lately and would rather put the money towards that. I just happened to see this mak and figured I'd ask the advice of the files.

IWD sells just the unfinished stock by itself for $95, or $110 with the hardware, your choice of AKM or T-3 profile too. You can use the HG's that come on the rifle. You probably already have a PG sitting around

I like AND actually fire mine, I was unwilling to shell out 3 grand for a Legend !!

Just remember everything is all cut off, butchered, and the replacements are hard to find, expensive and not many options available. Also, when you get through it is still a MAK-90.

Yep, that will turn heads at any range. That you can shoot all day long like it was meant to. And as good as any Legend.

Love my milled MAK-90

Back out the round mag,

And 4 30rdrs(if chicom) and that's about 150-200 from the 890. 690-740 for the gun...

IWD stuff are nice but way too spendy. Mine is original Chinese chu wood stock for milled receiver (picked it up at a local gun show for $25). Virgin, untapped with stain from storage. Milled spiker HG from a member here on the Files.

I now see that it appears to have a lower tang.. so you welded up the cut (or had it done) and stockset is not modified ?

The stock is not modified, just the receiver. As far as the cost of the furniture (original Chinese) and receiver mod, it might be $50 more than the complete IWD set but you get the correct looking Type 56 milled receiver and not the bastardized unfinished UF milled MAK receiver constantly reminds you of the AWB.

Here's the detailed built thread from last July:
