Default Howdy! newb to the wasr, date questions

Howdy, y'all...

I picked up a 10/63, three steel double stacks, three tapco mags, and a 75rd drum mag for $650. The gun is pretty much tapco'd out, side folding stock, I see tapco on the trigger, tapco forward...

Very happy, seems to function just fine. I bought without knowing what to look for, so I got what I got. Good so far.

What I am hoping for is for someone who would be willing to get a pic of the serial numbers privately to help assess the dates, etc. It seems a tad bit unwise to put the whole thing out there. If the common think is it is safe, I will do so, just tending to be cautious. Am I a nut? if so please dont tell Mom. lol
on the right side it does show its imported by cai.

First two digits of the serial number generally indicate production year for the rifle. Look at your front trunion for production date for the internals.

Good little package deal you got. Be proud of that.

But you're going to find dating WASRs to be kinda difficult. I don't know if there's a definitive way to do it.

On the WASR, the first two digits generally indicate production year for the barrel trunnion. There have been many a WASR arrive with '60s and '70s dated barrel trunnions that were actually produced in 2016 or 2017.

The year on on the barrel trunnion does not indicate the year of the rest of the internals.

See my post just prior to yours.

1965 barrel trunnion / NOS barrel ( likely not from '65, cuz "once a machine gun barrel, always a machine gun" ) / mixmaster parts (indicated by non-matching dust cover )

Odds are very high you have a 2016-2017 production WASR.

Congratulations.

It was assembled prior to 2014 OP, 2014 and up wasr's are all new parts.
